**Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, December 21, 2024** – Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath has urged the central government to include Anganwadi centers in the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (Free Electricity Scheme). Speaking in the Lok Sabha on Friday, Sivanath highlighted that 8,455 of Andhra Pradesh’s 55,607 Anganwadi centers lack electricity, impacting children’s attendance and well-being, particularly during summer’s erratic power supply.

The PM Surya Ghar scheme, a ₹75,021 crore initiative aimed at installing rooftop solar panels on government buildings by 2025, offers a solution. Sivanath argued that extending the scheme to Anganwadi centers would ensure consistent power, improve conditions for children, and reduce government electricity costs, promoting long-term financial and energy sustainability.
