Sat Dec 21 09:10:00 UTC 2024: ## Superman Trailer Shatters Records, Becomes Most Viewed and Talked About in DC/Warner Bros. History
**Los Angeles, CA** – The trailer for James Gunn’s upcoming Superman film has broken records, becoming the most viewed and discussed trailer in the history of both DC and Warner Bros. The co-head of DC Studios announced the milestone on X (formerly Twitter), thanking fans for their enthusiastic response. The trailer, released on Thursday, December 19th, garnered over 250 million views and a million social media posts.
Gunn described the film, starring David Corenswet as Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, as “a movie about kindness…about being good,” emphasizing his belief in the inherent goodness of people. The film also features Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and a supporting cast including María Gabriela de Faría, Skyler Gisondo, Sara Sampaio, Sean Gunn, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Isabel Merced, and Nathan Fillion.
While the trailer depicts a “battered” Superman, Gunn previously hinted that the film draws inspiration from various sources, including the original Donner film, Zack Snyder’s work, the DC animated universe, and particularly, *All-Star Superman* comic book. He recently completed some minor additional filming (“pickup shots,” not reshoots) to enhance the movie.
*Superman*, directed by Gunn, is slated for release on July 11, 2025.
