**Vijayawada, December 20, 2024** – The Andhra Pradesh Department of Health, Family Welfare and Medical Education presented a comprehensive report detailing its achievements since the formation of the NDA state government to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday. The report highlights numerous initiatives aimed at improving healthcare infrastructure and access.

Key initiatives mentioned include the launch of a Universal Cancer Screening program, which has already screened over 33 million people and identified nearly 30,000 women suspected of having cancer. Other notable programs include the Rasthtriya Bal Swastya Karyakram (National Child Health Program), Gundeku Bharosa (STEMI program for heart attacks), and the establishment of a Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Medical Management Centre at Visakha Institute of Medical Sciences. Twenty-five Jan Aushadi Centres (generic medicine stores) have also been established in teaching and district hospitals.

The report further detailed improvements in patient facilities at government hospitals and the progress on three city diagnostic centres in Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, and Tirupati. Ten new Critical Care Blocks, each with 75 beds, have been established across districts at a cost of ₹230 crore to enhance emergency surgical and intensive care services. Construction of a Metropolitan Surveillance Unit (MSU) in Guntur, costing ₹20 crore, is also underway.
