Sat Dec 21 11:43:23 UTC 2024: ## Chennai Church Choir Celebrates 30 Years of Carol Concerts
**Chennai, December 21, 2024** – The CSI Redeemer Church Choir in Anna Nagar East celebrated its 30th anniversary with a spectacular carol concert on December 15th, showcasing the choir’s remarkable growth and longevity. The performance, featuring the “Magnificat,” included over 115 members across three choirs: senior, junior, and children’s.
Conductor Immanuel Ponraj, who has led the choir for all 30 years, noted its expansion from just 15-20 members in 1995 to its current size. The choir’s success is attributed to a carefully cultivated system that nurtures young singers, starting with a junior choir and progressing to the senior choir. This strategy, coupled with a dedicated weekly practice schedule, ensures the choir remains vibrant and replenished despite member changes due to relocation and other life events.
The concert featured a diverse range of music, including classical pieces, contemporary songs, traditional Christmas carols, and Tamil songs, ensuring a broad appeal to the congregation. The performance also included professional string and wind instrumentalists, adding to the grandeur of the event.
Ponraj emphasized the importance of regular practice and participation in Sunday services as key to the choir’s sustained success. The choir also holds a Good Friday concert, attracting a large audience from outside the church community. The church’s commitment to choral music dates back to its founding 55 years ago, demonstrating a consistent dedication to musical excellence. The 30th anniversary concert served as a testament to the choir’s enduring legacy and the dedication of its members and conductor.
