Fri Dec 20 11:28:26 UTC 2024: ## Viduthalai Part 2: Mixed Reception for Vetrimaaran’s Action Crime Drama

**Chennai, December 20** – Vetrimaaran’s highly anticipated sequel, *Viduthalai Part 2*, has hit theaters today to a divided audience response. While critics hail the film’s compelling narrative and strong performances, particularly Vijay Sethupathi’s lauded portrayal of Perumal Vaathiyaar, social media reveals a more polarized view.

The film, a continuation of the first installment, follows the story of police officer Kumaresan’s pursuit of the revolutionary leader Perumal. Many viewers declared it a “must-watch,” praising Sethupathi’s “stellar” performance and Vetrimaaran’s direction. Several online comments even predicted a National Award for Sethupathi’s acting.

However, a significant portion of the online commentary was negative. Some users dismissed the positive reviews as paid promotions, citing a weak narrative structure and criticizing the film’s pacing and frequent time jumps between past and present as detracting from the overall experience. Stronger criticisms labeled the film a “flop” and a “colossal waste of talent, time, and resources,” with accusations of it functioning more as a political lecture than a cohesive narrative.

Despite the mixed reviews, early projections suggest an OTT release on Zee5 sometime between January 20th and February 20th, 2025. The film’s box office performance in the coming weeks will provide further insight into the audience’s overall reception.
