Fri Dec 20 12:00:00 UTC 2024: **Telangana High Court Grants KTR Interim Relief in Formula E Racing Case**

Hyderabad, December 20, 2024 – The Telangana High Court has granted interim relief to K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), in a case related to the Formula E racing scam. The court ordered that KTR should not be arrested until next week, while allowing the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to continue its investigation. The government has been directed to file a counter-affidavit within 30 days, and the hearing has been adjourned to December 27th.

The case centers around allegations of irregularities in the funding of the Formula E racing event. KTR’s legal team argued that the ACB’s FIR was registered 11 months after the agreement, violating legal procedures, and that the Election Commission, not the ACB, should handle election code violations. They further contended that the payments made to the organizers were in accordance with the agreement and that no criminal misconduct occurred.

Meanwhile, the court also granted conditional bail to five accused in the Paritala Ravi murder case. They were released from jails in Kadapa and Visakhapatnam.

Separately, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has requested details from the Telangana ACB regarding the Formula E racing case, including the FIR copy and details of funds transferred from the HMDA account. The ED also sought a copy of the complaint filed by Dana Kishore and details of transaction dates.

The Telangana Assembly’s winter session was briefly adjourned for 15 minutes amid protests by BRS members demanding a discussion on the Formula E racing issue. Congress MLA Revanuri Prakash Reddy countered that a discussion was unnecessary after the Governor’s permission was received.
