Fri Dec 20 02:30:00 UTC 2024: ## Symphony Orchestra of India Brings ‘A Classical Christmas’ to Bengaluru

**Bengaluru, December 20, 2024** – The Symphony Orchestra of India (SOI), based at the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in Mumbai, is bringing its highly anticipated “A Classical Christmas” concert to Bengaluru’s Ranga Shankara on December 20th and 21st. The concerts, conducted by Barbara Poplawska, will feature a festive program including Corelli’s Christmas Concerto, Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite, Strauss’s Blue Danube, and traditional Christmas carols.

The SOI, founded in 2006, is India’s only professional orchestra, according to General Manager Bianca Mendonca. She highlighted the organization’s commitment to training Indian musicians while also collaborating with international talent. Mendonca expressed the SOI’s appreciation for Ranga Shankara’s exceptional acoustics and warm audience, expressing hope to expand their performances in Bengaluru in the future.

Ranga Shankara’s Managing Trustee, Arundhati Nag, emphasized the venue’s dedication to bringing high-quality performances to Bengaluru audiences, noting the longstanding relationship with the SOI and NCPA. The theatre’s natural acoustics, requiring no amplification, enhance the musical experience.

In addition to the evening concerts, the SOI will present “A Symphony of Colours,” an interactive concert designed for children aged 7-12 on December 21st at 11 a.m., exploring the connection between music and color.

Tickets for all performances are available at the Ranga Shankara box office and on BookMyShow.
