**CHENNAI, December 20, 2024** – The 23rd Sangeetha Raga Mahotsavam, a Carnatic music festival organized by Naadhabrahmam, opened in Chennai yesterday. Madras High Court Judge R. Subramanian inaugurated the event and presented the prestigious Naadha Swara Ganamani award to renowned Nadaswaram artists S.P. Palanivel and R. Prabhavati.
Justice Subramanian highlighted the deep connection between Nadaswaram music and Carnatic tradition, emphasizing the importance of preserving and promoting these art forms. He noted the historical prevalence of Nadaswaram artists in villages, acknowledging the challenges faced by artists migrating to cities for better opportunities. However, he expressed optimism, citing a recent increase in young people pursuing Carnatic music as a career. The judge also commended N. Subramanian, the founder of Naadhabrahmam, for his consistent support of Nadaswaram artists. Dr. D. Badri Narayanan, secretary of Naadhabrahmam, also attended the inauguration.
