JAIPUR, INDIA – A massive explosion involving an LPG gas tanker on Ajmer Road in Jaipur, India, early this morning has resulted in the tragic deaths of 11 people and critically injured 13 others. The death toll is feared to rise as the condition of several injured remains precarious. A total of 45 people were affected in the incident.

The explosion, which occurred near a petrol pump in the Bhankrota area, ignited a fire engulfing approximately 25 vehicles. The resulting inferno caused extensive damage and created a multi-kilometer traffic jam on Ajmer Road. Rescue operations are underway, with authorities searching for any remaining victims amidst the wreckage. The injured are receiving treatment at SMS Hospital in Jaipur.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah expressed their condolences, and both the central and state governments announced financial aid of ₹700,000 (approximately $8,500 USD) for the families of each victim. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot added that ₹500,000 will be provided from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, with an additional ₹100,000 for each injured individual. The Prime Minister also announced ₹200,000 for each deceased victim’s family and ₹50,000 for the injured from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund.

Chief Minister Gehlot visited the site and the hospital, ordering a high-level investigation into the cause of the incident and directing officials to provide immediate and comprehensive medical care to the injured. Traffic has been diverted due to the extensive road blockage caused by the accident and the subsequent rescue operations.
