**Visakhapatnam, December 20, 2024** – The Indian Institute of Petroleum & Energy (IIPE) will host a series of Scientific Social Responsibility (SSR) programs from December 21st to 23rd, aimed at promoting science and higher education among school children and teachers in the Visakhapatnam region.
The initiative, aligned with the central government’s Jigyasa program, will include the College and School Teachers Education and Academic Mentoring (CS-TEAM) program and the Local College and School Students’ Fellowship Programme (LCS-SFP). Participants will be exposed to the latest advancements in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
IIPE Director Shalivahan stated that participation will increase once the institute moves to its new Sabbavaram campus. A total of 25 students and 20 faculty, nominated by the District Education Officers of Anakapalli and Visakhapatnam, will participate in the initial program. The IIPE emphasized a commitment to girl’s education, aiming for at least 50% female participation. The institute expressed gratitude to the district collectors for their assistance in the student selection process.
