**New Delhi** – A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi following a scuffle in the Parliament complex that left two BJP MPs injured. The FIR, registered at the Parliament Street Police Station, charges Gandhi under sections 117, 125, 131, 351, and 3(5) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), relating to causing grievous hurt, endangering life, criminal force, criminal intimidation, and common intention.
The complaint was filed by the BJP, who allege Gandhi physically assaulted MPs Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput, who are currently hospitalized with head injuries. BJP MPs Hemang Joshi, Anurag Thakur, and Bansuri Swaraj submitted the complaint, initially demanding charges including attempt to murder.
Gandhi denies the allegations, claiming BJP MPs blocked Congress members from entering Parliament and that the government is attempting to deflect attention from other matters. He accused the government of trying to divert attention from a US case against Prime Minister Modi’s friend, Adani.
The incident, which unfolded amidst protests by both the NDA and INDIA blocs, resulted in high drama outside the Parliament complex. Separately, the Congress filed a complaint against BJP leaders for allegedly assaulting party chief Mallikarjun Kharge. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan condemned Gandhi’s actions, describing them as “indecent, impudent and goondagardi” (hooliganism). The situation remains tense as investigations proceed.
