Thu Dec 19 21:43:07 UTC 2024: ## Rahul Gandhi Faces FIR After Parliament Scuffle

**New Delhi:** Delhi Police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi following a complaint by BJP MP Hemang Joshi. The FIR alleges assault and incitement to violence stemming from a scuffle on Parliament premises. The charges, initially including attempted murder (section 109), were filed under sections 115, 117, 125, 131, and 351 of the Indian Penal Code, accusing Gandhi of injuring BJP MPs through physical contact.

The complaint stems from an incident involving several BJP MPs, including Anurag Singh Thakur and Bansuri Swaraj, who alleged Gandhi pushed and shoved them. Furthermore, BJP MP S Phangnon Konyak accused Gandhi of approaching her aggressively and shouting during a protest, causing her significant distress and claiming that his behavior was unbecoming of a leader of the opposition. She highlighted the incident as an attack on her dignity and self-esteem.

While the BJP cited these incidents as evidence of Gandhi’s misconduct, Congress vehemently denied the allegations. Gandhi himself countered that it was BJP MPs who initiated the confrontation, threatening and intimidating him. The incident has sparked a heated political debate, with several NDA MPs condemning Gandhi’s actions and demanding disciplinary measures, while opposition members disputed the BJP’s account. The matter is now under police investigation.
