**Kolkata, India** – The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIMC) released the results for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024 on Thursday evening. A total of 2.93 lakh candidates out of 3.29 lakh registered appeared for the exam. The results, accessible on the official CAT website (iimcat.ac.in), revealed a significant dominance of male and engineering students among top performers.
Thirteen out of the fourteen students achieving a perfect 100 percentile score were engineers, with only one female among the top scorers. Similarly, of the 29 candidates scoring 99.99 percentile, 25 were engineers and 27 were male.
The overall demographic breakdown of registered candidates showed 67.53% from the General category, 16.91% from NC-OBC, 8.51% SC, 2.25% ST, 4.80% EWS, and 0.44% PwD. These percentages shifted slightly among those who actually took the exam.
IIMs will soon begin releasing shortlists for further admissions based on CAT scores and individual institute criteria. In addition to the IIMs, 86 other institutions will accept CAT 2024 scores for their management programs. Candidates are urged to check the CAT website for a list of participating institutions before applying.
