**MUMBAI, INDIA –** Zepto, the quick-commerce platform, has announced the promotion of Shashank Shekhar Sharma to Chief Experience Officer (CXO) of its rapidly expanding cafe service, Zepto Cafe, effective December 2024. Sharma, who spearheaded Zepto Cafe since its inception, will oversee all aspects of the business, including operations, expansion, procurement, quality control, and customer experience. He will continue to report to Zepto President Vinay Dhanani.

This promotion comes on the heels of Zepto Cafe’s impressive growth. The service, launched in April 2022, is now processing over 30,000 orders daily and is set to launch as a standalone app next week. Zepto CEO Aadit Palicha attributed this success to Sharma’s leadership, highlighting the cafe’s strong product-market fit and unit economics.

Zepto is aggressively expanding its cafe footprint, adding over 100 new locations monthly across major Indian cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Pune. This rapid expansion has fueled impressive revenue growth, with Zepto Cafe achieving an estimated annual run rate (ARR) gross merchandise value (GMV) of Rs 160 crore (approximately $19.4 million USD) using just 15% of Zepto’s dark store network. The company projects an ARR of Rs 1,000 crore (approximately $121.3 million USD) by the next fiscal year. The phenomenal success of the cafe service prompted Zepto to launch it as a separate app, allowing for faster iteration and improved customer experience.
