Thu Dec 19 16:18:51 UTC 2024: ## Two Students Hospitalized After Suspected Insect or Snake Bites at Telangana Residential School; Principal Suspended
**Jagtial, Telangana, December 19, 2024** – Two Class VIII students from the Telangana Residential School in Peddapur, Jagtial district, were hospitalized within 24 hours after experiencing illness and numbness in their hands, suspected to be caused by insect or non-venomous snake bites. This incident has sparked protests from parents who staged a sit-in, demanding the school’s relocation due to perceived safety concerns.
Thirteen-year-old Omkar Akhil was admitted to a Korutla hospital on Wednesday, receiving an anti-venom dose as a precaution. Another student, 13-year-old B Yashwith, was hospitalized on Thursday with body pains and an apparent insect bite. While officials deny venomous snake bites were involved, the incidents follow the deaths of two other students in July and August, prompting outrage and the suspension of the school’s previous principal.
Following the latest incident, Jagtial Collector B. Satya Prasad visited the school, ordering a major cleanup and a medical camp. The current principal, V. Madhavilatha, was suspended for alleged negligence and lax sanitation practices. The situation remains tense as parents continue to express concerns about the safety and well-being of their children at the school.
