**Mysuru, Karnataka, December 19, 2024** – A protest was held in Mysuru today by Congress workers led by former MLA M.K. Somashekar, condemning Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent remarks on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. The protestors accused Mr. Shah of insulting not only the architect of the Indian Constitution but also millions of his followers.
Mr. Somashekar stated that Mr. Shah’s comments revealed the BJP’s true feelings towards Dr. Ambedkar and marginalized communities. He highlighted the irony of Mr. Shah and others benefiting from reservation policies established under the Constitution drafted by Ambedkar, while simultaneously disparaging him. The former MLA called the remarks “slanderous” and urged President Droupadi Murmu to intervene and advise Prime Minister Narendra Modi to remove Mr. Shah from the cabinet.
The protest, attended by several Congress leaders including KPCC spokesperson H.A. Venkatesh and former mayors Narayan and T.B. Chikkanna, condemned the BJP MPs who supported Mr. Shah’s statements. Mr. Somashekar emphasized that without Dr. Ambedkar’s work, millions would remain deprived of their rights and dignity.
