**Mysuru, Karnataka, December 19, 2024** – A protest was held in Mysuru today condemning Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Led by former MLA M.K. Somashekar, the demonstration, organized by Congress workers, accused Mr. Shah of insulting not only the architect of the Indian Constitution but also millions of his followers.
Somashekar stated that Mr. Shah’s comments revealed the BJP’s true feelings towards Ambedkar and marginalized communities. He highlighted the irony of Mr. Shah benefiting from reservation policies enshrined in the Constitution drafted by Ambedkar, while simultaneously disparaging him. Somashekar further criticized BJP MPs for supporting the Union Minister’s statements.
The protest also included demands for Mr. Shah’s removal from the Cabinet. Somashekar urged President Droupadi Murmu to intervene and advise Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take action. Several other Congress leaders, including KPCC spokesperson H.A. Venkatesh and former mayors Narayan and T.B. Chikkanna, participated in the demonstration.
