Mon Dec 16 23:40:00 UTC 2024: ## Telangana Shivers as Adilabad Records Season’s Lowest Temperature
**Hyderabad, December 16:** A bone-chilling cold wave continues to grip Telangana, with the Agriculture Research Station in Adilabad recording a season’s low of 4.7°C on Sunday. This frigid weather has significantly impacted daily life, with markets opening late and evenings seeing deserted streets in many areas.
Patancheru in Hyderabad recorded the lowest temperature in the city at 8.6°C, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). The IMD has extended its cold wave warning to Monday for Adilabad and Kumurambheem Asifabad districts, forecasting light to moderate rain or thundershowers in isolated areas from December 19. Minimum temperatures are expected to remain below 15°C across most of the state until then.
Hyderabad is predicted to experience partly cloudy skies with mist or haze for the next 48 hours, with maximum and minimum temperatures around 30°C and 15°C respectively.
Doctors are urging the elderly to take precautions against the cold, while agricultural scientists are advising farmers cultivating Bengal gram and jowar to protect their crops from the damaging effects of the low temperatures, which are causing leaf discoloration. A scientist at the Agriculture Research Station, Sridhar Chauhan, attributed the cold snap to typical seasonal patterns, noting that a recent cyclone caused a temporary temperature rise before the cold returned.
