Mon Dec 16 16:00:48 UTC 2024: ## Kodenchery, Kerala, Becomes Packrafting Hotspot

**Kozhikode, Kerala – December 16, 2024** – The upland hamlet of Kodenchery in Kerala is experiencing a surge in adventure tourism, with packrafting emerging as the latest attraction. Already established as an adventure hub thanks to the annual Malabar River Festival and a newly opened International Kayaking Centre, Kodenchery now offers assisted packrafting trips down the Iruthulli River.

The three-kilometer stretch between Valanjapara and Irudu Kainadi Estate provides the ideal setting for this unique activity, which utilizes inflatable rafts that can be easily packed. Safety is ensured by trained kayakers from Uttarakhand accompanying rafters.

The Kayaking Centre, managed by JellyFish Water Sports and Outdoors under the Kerala Adventure Tourism Promotion Society (KATPS), also provides kayaking training, led by head trainer Pavan Thapaliyal from Uttarakhand. The Iruthulli River is particularly well-suited for sit-on-top kayaking, allowing two people to row simultaneously.

Beyond water sports, the Centre offers a range of other activities including trekking, mountain biking, camping, farm tours, and river walks along nearby rivers. This diversification solidifies Kodenchery’s position as a premier destination for adventure tourism in Kerala.
