**KANNUR, KERALA –** Approximately 300 people attending the Perunkaliyattam festival at the Cheruthazham Kokkadu Muchilottu Temple in Payyanur, Kerala, fell ill with suspected food poisoning over the weekend. The incident occurred during the two-day festival, with victims seeking treatment at Payyanur Taluk Hospital and private hospitals on Saturday and Sunday.

While most were treated and released, a few required hospitalization, according to health authorities. Preliminary investigations point to contaminated food from temporary eateries at the festival as the likely source, with ice cream, oil-cooked snacks, and eggs identified as potential culprits. Authorities are currently investigating the matter.
