**New Delhi, December 17, 2024** – The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) will significantly increase its textbook production, aiming to print 15 crore books annually, up from the current 5 crore, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced today. This substantial increase is intended to address previous concerns regarding textbook shortages.
The boost in production will also lead to lower textbook prices for some classes, Mr. Pradhan confirmed. He emphasized that no price increases are planned, ensuring affordability for parents.
The updated textbooks, aligned with the new National Curriculum Framework (NCF), are currently under development. Textbooks for classes 9-12, revised according to the NCF, are expected to be available by the 2026-27 academic session.
