Mon Dec 16 17:10:00 UTC 2024: ## Beloved Healthcare Worker and Community Volunteer Julie Hellenbrand Passes Away
**Waunakee, WI –** Julie Lynn Hellenbrand, a devoted healthcare worker, community volunteer, and loving mother, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Unity Point Meriter Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was 47.
Hellenbrand dedicated her life to serving others. Her career spanned roles as a dialysis technician, nursing assistant at UW Hospital Carbone Cancer Center, and volunteer EMT with the Waunakee Area EMS Service, where she also served on the board of directors. Beyond her professional life, Hellenbrand was an active member of her community and cherished her family. She was a devoted mother to her son, Carter, and eagerly awaited the arrival of her first grandchild. In a touching moment, hospital staff arranged for an in-room ultrasound allowing Hellenbrand to see her granddaughter before passing.
Outside of work and family, Hellenbrand enjoyed spending time at her in-laws’ cottage and her family cabin, engaging in activities like boating and snowmobiling. She was also a passionate fan of the Milwaukee Brewers, Green Bay Packers, and Wisconsin Badgers.
Hellenbrand is survived by her husband, Paul; son Carter and his wife Marly; mother Georgia; and numerous other family members. She was preceded in death by her father, father-in-law, cousin, and best friend.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Waunakee. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Winn-Cress Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Kidney Foundation or a charity of choice.
