**Navi Mumbai:** The Indian women’s cricket team registered a resounding 49-run victory over West Indies in the first T20I of their three-match series on Sunday. This dominant win serves as a strong rebound after a disappointing tour of Australia.
Jemimah Rodrigues (73 off 35 balls) and Smriti Mandhana (54 off 33 balls) spearheaded India’s impressive batting performance, propelling them to a massive 195/4 in their 20 overs – India’s highest ever T20I score against the West Indies. Mandhana and Uma Chetry (24) put on a quick 50-run partnership early in the innings, before Rodrigues took center stage with a blistering display of aggressive batting. Richa Ghosh also contributed a valuable 20 runs. For the West Indies, Karishma Ramharack took 2/18.
In response, West Indies could only manage 146/7, despite valiant efforts from Aaliyah Alleyne (52) and Chinelle Henry (49). India’s bowlers, led by Titas Sadhu (3/37), Deepti Sharma (2/21), and Radha Yadav (2/28), effectively restricted the West Indies batting line-up.
