Mon Dec 16 20:04:00 UTC 2024: ## Delhi L-G Orders Special Assembly Session to Discuss CAG Reports
**New Delhi, December 17, 2024** – Lieutenant-Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena has directed Delhi Chief Minister Atishi to immediately convene a special session of the Delhi Assembly. The session will address 14 Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports concerning various government policy initiatives.
This action follows a Delhi High Court hearing on a petition filed by Delhi BJP legislators demanding the AAP government table the reports for discussion. While the Delhi government had previously informed the court of its intention to table some reports, the L-G expressed dissatisfaction with the delay.
In a communication to the Chief Minister, Mr. Saxena emphasized the constitutional mandate to present CAG reports, crucial for assessing the government’s financial and administrative health. He criticized the government’s failure to meet this obligation, hindering the Assembly’s oversight role.
The L-G’s counsel informed the High Court that approval had been granted to table reports related to liquor duty, pollution, and finance. The counsel also noted that the Assembly Speaker retains the authority to recall the recently adjourned Winter Session. The special session is expected to address the remaining CAG reports promptly.
