**New Delhi, December 17, 2024** – The Indian government is investigating 642 offshore entities offering online money gaming for potential tax evasion, the Lok Sabha was informed yesterday. The Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) has identified these entities and, finding many unresponsive and uncooperative, has referred them to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) for website blocking under Section 14A(3) of the IGST Act, 2017. Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary stated that while India lacks reciprocal arrangements with foreign governments for this type of investigation, the probe into these 642 entities is ongoing.
