**New Delhi, India** – A 21-year-old man, Ritik Verma, died on Monday after being brutally assaulted by his lover’s husband in Northeast Delhi’s Shastri Park. Police reported that Verma was found with his lover at her home around 11 am. Her enraged husband, whose identity has not yet been released, then subjected both Verma and his wife to a violent attack.
According to police and accounts from Verma’s uncle and a neighbor, the assault was particularly brutal. Verma suffered injuries across his entire body, including the removal of his fingernails. Multiple assailants may have been involved, police suspect.
Verma, the sole son of his parents and a tempo driver, was initially taken to a local hospital before being transferred to another facility. He succumbed to his injuries around 9 pm, before he could provide a statement to authorities.
Police have confirmed that an investigation into the death is underway. The husband remains a primary suspect in the case. The deceased’s relationship with the woman had reportedly been ongoing for several months.
