Tue Dec 17 15:38:01 UTC 2024: ## CPI Condemns ‘One Nation, One Election’ Bill, Calls for INDIA Bloc Opposition
**Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh –** The Communist Party of India (CPI) has strongly denounced the proposed “One Nation, One Election” bill, urging members of the INDIA alliance to actively oppose it. In a press conference on Tuesday, CPI National General Secretary D. Raja argued the bill undermines India’s federal structure and could lead to authoritarian rule. He characterized the bill as a step towards a theocratic state and a one-party system, aligning with the RSS-BJP’s alleged pursuit of a “Hindu Rashtra.” Raja emphasized the impracticality of simultaneous elections in a diverse nation like India and asserted that the bill would violate the spirit of the Indian Constitution. The CPI will hold its National Conference in Chandigarh from September 21-25, 2025, and launch its centenary celebrations in Kanpur on December 26, 2024. The party reiterated its commitment to secularism and democracy, echoing the vision of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. State secretary K. Ramakrishna and other party officials were also present at the press conference.
