**THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, December 17, 2024** – Thiruvananthapuram is set to welcome the New Year with a dazzling display of lights and flowers. A ten-day flower show, “Vasantholsavam 2024,” will illuminate Kanakakkunnu from December 25th to January 3rd. The event, organized by the Tourism Department, promises a spectacular visual treat for residents and tourists alike.
The Kanakakkunnu grounds will be adorned with stunning light installations and a wide variety of flowering plants arranged in artistic patterns. Tourism Minister P.A. Mohamed Riyas stated that the illumination aims to enhance the festive spirit of the New Year. He further highlighted that the event’s scale and visual appeal will rival those of major metropolitan cities worldwide, attracting more domestic tourists to Thiruvananthapuram, already a popular destination.
Beyond the visual spectacle, Vasantholsavam 2024 will include a trade fair, food stalls, children’s amusement activities, and competitions for school children and adults. Visitors will also have the opportunity to purchase plants. Registration for competitions, open to private organizations and nurseries, is now open through the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) or the festival office at Kanakakkunnu (starting December 19th).
