**Tbilisi, Georgia** – Twelve Indian nationals were found dead in a restaurant in the Gudauri mountain resort in Georgia, the Indian embassy in Tbilisi confirmed. Initial investigations by Georgian authorities suggest the deaths were caused by carbon monoxide poisoning.

According to a statement released by the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs, the bodies showed no signs of violence or foul play. Local media, citing police sources, reported that the victims died from carbon monoxide poisoning emanating from a generator used during a power outage. All 12 bodies were discovered in bedrooms on the second floor of the building, where they reportedly worked at an Indian restaurant.

While the Indian embassy confirmed all 12 victims were Indian citizens, the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs stated 11 were foreign nationals and one was a Georgian citizen.

The embassy expressed its deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and is working with local authorities to gather further details and provide assistance. Preliminary investigations indicate a generator was operating in an enclosed space adjacent to the bedrooms after a power cut on Friday night. The generator is believed to be the source of the deadly carbon monoxide. A full investigation is underway.
