**Indore, India** – Amidst the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia, Uttar Pradesh fast bowler Ankit Rajpoot has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. The 31-year-old, who began his career in 2009, made the announcement via an Instagram post.

Rajpoot’s career spanned 80 first-class matches, six seasons in the Indian Premier League (IPL), and appearances for India A. While he never made it to the senior Indian team, he played for various IPL franchises including Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, and Lucknow Super Giants. He expressed gratitude to the BCCI, Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association, Kanpur Cricket Association, and all his IPL franchises for the opportunities provided.

In his post, Rajpoot thanked his coaches, teammates, physiotherapists, fans, and family for their support throughout his career.

His first-class record includes 248 wickets at an average of 29.25 in 137 innings. He also took 71 wickets in List A cricket (at an average of 26.94) and 105 wickets in T20s (at an average of 21.55). In the IPL, he played 29 matches, taking 24 wickets at an average of 33.91.

Rajpoot’s retirement is considered a significant loss for the Uttar Pradesh cricket team.
