**MOSCOW, RUSSIA** – Janis Timma, a 33-year-old former basketball player and ex-husband of Russian singer Anna Sedokova, was found dead in a Moscow hostel on December 17th. According to SHOT, a Russian news agency, the cause of death is believed to be asphyxiation.
A fellow hostel resident discovered Timma’s body between the first and second floors of the building. A phone was found nearby displaying a message reading, “Call Anna *phone number*, thank you for everything.” Emergency services were immediately contacted, but Timma was pronounced dead at the scene.
SHOT reports that Timma had allegedly been contemplating suicide due to relationship difficulties with Sedokova, with the act occurring on her 42nd birthday, which was the day before his death. The couple officially divorced just a week prior, on December 10th.
Authorities are currently testing Timma’s blood for the presence of narcotics. The investigation into his death is ongoing.
