Mon Dec 16 08:30:00 UTC 2024: **Telangana Assembly Suspended Amidst Protests Over Farmer Arrest**
HYDERABAD, INDIA – The Telangana Legislative Council was adjourned today following protests by Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) members. The protests erupted during a short-duration discussion on the state’s tourism policy, initiated by Deputy Chief Minister Batti Vikramarka.
BRS members demanded a discussion on the alleged handcuffing of farmers in the Lagacherla incident in Vikarabad district. They claimed to have requested a debate on the issue in the Business Advisory Committee (BAC). While the Council Chairman attempted to pacify the protesting members, assuring them that the government would respond to their concerns, the BRS members remained firm. They chanted slogans like “Jai Jawan Jai Kisan” while holding placards, leading the Chairman to suspend the session amidst the continuing uproar.
