Hyderabad: The Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting in the Telangana Assembly Speaker’s chamber concluded without a decision on the duration of the upcoming Assembly session. Differences arose between the ruling party and the opposition over the length of the session, leading to a walkout by several opposition leaders.
Ministers Harish Rao and Prashant Reddy of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), along with MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi, walked out of the meeting, expressing dissatisfaction with the government’s proposed short session. They had reportedly requested a 15-day session, while the government suggested a shorter duration of 3-4 days.
The opposition also questioned the government’s recent actions of preventing members from attending the session in T-shirts, citing Lok Sabha leader Rahul Gandhi’s appearances in T-shirts as a counter-example. Harish Rao criticized the government’s intention to introduce bills without proper BAC consultation, calling it against established conventions. The specific dates for the Assembly session remain unannounced.
