Mon Dec 16 15:50:15 UTC 2024: ## Jharkhand Students to Besiege SSC Office Over Exam Malpractice Allegations

**Ranchi, Dec 14 (THE WEEK)** – The Jharkhand State Students’ Union (JSSU) will stage a protest outside the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) office on Monday, demanding the cancellation of the September Jharkhand General Graduate Level Combined Competitive Examination (JGGLCCE) due to alleged widespread malpractice.

Thousands of students from across the state are expected to participate in the protest, which prompted the district administration to impose prohibitory orders within 500 meters of the SSC office from Saturday to December 20.

The JSSC recently shortlisted 2,231 candidates for document verification, a move the JSSU strongly opposes. JSSU leader Devendra Mahto stated that the union wants the verification process immediately halted. He claims the examination was rife with irregularities. A previous large-scale demonstration occurred on September 30th, also calling for the exam’s cancellation.

While the JSSC, which formed a three-member committee to investigate the allegations, maintains the exam was fair, the students presented evidence, although some material provided was reportedly blank. The commission also refutes claims of a significant number of successful candidates being from outside Jharkhand.

Meanwhile, the state BJP has called for a CBI investigation into the matter. The controversy continues as students escalate their protests against the recruitment process.
