Mon Dec 16 09:46:08 UTC 2024: ## Telangana to Implement Rythu Bharosa with Ceiling on Land Holdings
**Hyderabad, India** – The Telangana state government is set to launch its flagship Rythu Bharosa farmer support scheme with a cap on land eligibility, according to a report by the Telugu news source ManaSakshi. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has announced the scheme’s launch after Sankranti festival.
The decision follows concerns about irregularities in the previous government’s Rythu Bandhu scheme, where subsidies were allegedly misused for ineligible lands. A cabinet sub-committee reviewed the issue and recommended changes, including a ceiling on land ownership to qualify for Rythu Bharosa. The exact limit is yet to be finalized, with options of 5, 7, 10, or 20 acres under consideration.
Furthermore, the scheme will exclude government employees, including IAS and IPS officers, and individuals paying income tax. Payments will only be made for land actively used for cultivation. The government plans to deposit an initial installment of ₹7500 per acre into farmers’ accounts after Sankranti. The final details are expected to be announced during the ongoing legislative assembly session.
