Mon Dec 16 12:31:03 UTC 2024: ## Olympian David Gillick Launches “Ireland’s Fittest School 2025” Competition

**DUBLIN, Ireland – December 12, 2024** – Olympic sprinter David Gillick has partnered with Fyffes to launch the fourth annual “Ireland’s Fittest School” competition, aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles among Irish youth. The 10-week competition, starting January 20th, will feature specially designed exercise routines created by Gillick and fitness trainer Sharon Flanagan. Schools will incorporate these routines into their PE curriculum and track their progress online.

This year’s competition introduces a new regional qualifier element. The top four schools from each province (Connacht, Leinster, Munster, and Ulster) will compete in live events in April. The winners from each province will advance to the grand final in May, hosted by Gillick and Flanagan. The winning school will receive €8,000 worth of sports equipment.

Gillick hopes to find a school that emulates the success of previous winners: Scoil Na Croise Naofa (Donegal, 2022), Gilson National School (Meath, 2023), and Touraneena National School (Waterford, 2024).
