Mon Dec 16 14:09:40 UTC 2024: ## Bengaluru Property Owners Protest Speedy E-Khata Application Rejections
**Bengaluru, December 17, 2024** – A surge in swiftly rejected e-khata applications is sparking outrage among Bengaluru property owners. Several individuals report their applications being denied within just two days of submission, despite previously facing delays in the process. This rapid turnaround follows strict instructions issued by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to Assistant Revenue Officials (AROs) to process applications within 48 hours, a directive implemented in the wake of corruption allegations.
Three cases highlighted by *The Hindu* reveal a pattern of seemingly arbitrary rejections. In each instance, minor discrepancies, such as name mismatches between Aadhaar cards and sale deeds, resulted in immediate denial. Applicants suspect the speed of rejection is a tactic to meet targets or pressure applicants into bribery.
Ramesh K. (name changed), whose application was rejected due to a name mismatch, points out that the ARO could have easily approved the application using a built-in mismatch option. Similar issues plagued Srinivas Shetty and Sandeep, whose applications were also rejected within two days due to name discrepancies. All three properties are located in R.R. Nagar.
While the BBMP’s Special Commissioner (Revenue), Munish Moudgil, asserts that the system doesn’t automatically reject applications, he has acknowledged the issue and promised an investigation. The property owners, however, remain skeptical, alleging that the expedited rejections are indicative of a systemic problem.
