MUMBAI, INDIA – A star-studded opening night kicked off the RK@100 Film Festival, celebrating the 100th birth anniversary of legendary actor Raj Kapoor. The Kapoor family, including Randhir, Ranbir, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, and Karisma Kapoor, posed for a memorable family portrait on the red carpet. Ranbir Kapoor paid tribute to his grandfather by sporting a similar mustache and bandhgala outfit. Alia Bhatt’s ivory saree drew comparisons to Nargis, a frequent Raj Kapoor co-star.
The three-day festival, organized by PVR INOX Limited and the Film Heritage Foundation, will screen ten of Raj Kapoor’s classic films across 40 cities. The lineup includes iconic films like *Awaara*, *Shree 420*, and *Bobby*. Randhir Kapoor expressed his hope that the festival will introduce a new generation to his father’s cinematic brilliance.
The opening night attracted a host of Bollywood celebrities, including Mahesh Bhatt, Farhan Akhtar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Boney Kapoor, Rashika Duggal, Soni Razdan, Shahin Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Rekha, and Padmini Kolhapure. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also reportedly invited to the event. A further Kapoor family gathering is planned for December 14th.
