**Kochi, December 14, 2024** – A 76-year-old man, Johny Lopez, was killed Friday morning in a road accident near Ernakulam Law College. Police reports indicate that an SUV, allegedly speeding, crossed into oncoming traffic on Avenue Road and collided with Lopez’s van around 7 a.m. Lopez, who worked transporting students, was on his way to pick up children at the time of the accident. The SUV driver has been charged under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) with rash and negligent driving and causing death by negligence. The Central police are investigating the incident.
