Fri Dec 13 23:42:41 UTC 2024: ## Rizwan’s Captaincy Hailed as “New Era” for Pakistan Cricket
**KARACHI, PAKISTAN** – Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has lauded the captaincy of Mohammad Rizwan, declaring the start of a new era for the national team. Amir’s comments follow a string of recent successes under Rizwan’s leadership, including ODI series wins in Australia and Zimbabwe.
Since taking the reins in October 2024, Rizwan has overseen a 2-1 ODI series victory in Australia – Pakistan’s first in the country since 2002 – and subsequent 2-1 wins in both ODI and T20I series against Zimbabwe. While Pakistan suffered a 3-0 T20I whitewash in Australia, the overall positive results have impressed Amir, who compared Rizwan’s impact to the revolutionary “Bazball” approach currently dominating international cricket.
“As they say ‘Bazball’ has arrived, I believe the Rizwan era has begun. He has shown outstanding leadership,” Amir stated.
Pakistan now heads to South Africa for a tour encompassing three T20Is (starting December 10th), three ODIs (December 17th), and two Test matches (December 26th). Separate squads have been announced for each format, with Rizwan captaining the limited-overs teams and Shan Masood leading the Test side. The squads feature a mix of experienced players and rising stars, suggesting a commitment to both established talent and future potential. The upcoming South Africa tour will provide a crucial test of Rizwan’s captaincy and the team’s overall strength.
