**Mulapadu, Andhra Pradesh:** Following in the footsteps of his legendary father, Rahul Dravid, Anvay Dravid, the younger son of the former Indian captain and coach, has made a significant mark in cricket. Anvay scored a magnificent century for Karnataka in the Vijay Merchant Trophy, a BCCI Under-16 red-ball tournament, against Jharkhand.
The three-day match, held in Mulapadu, saw Jharkhand post a first innings total of 387, with Tauhid falling just short of a century (98 runs). Karnataka’s opening batsmen, Arya Goda and captain Dhruv Krishnan, both scored centuries. Anvay, batting at number four, capitalized on the strong start, playing a crucial innings. He remained unbeaten on 100 runs off 153 balls, including 10 fours and 2 sixes, reaching his century before the end of the final day’s play.
Karnataka ultimately reached 441/4, securing a 54-run first innings lead. While the match ended in a draw, Karnataka earned three points based on the first innings lead, while Jharkhand received one. Anvay’s performance mirrors his father’s renowned tenacity and batting prowess.
This impressive showing follows his older brother, Samit Dravid’s, recent successes. Samit, who was selected for the India Under-19 team earlier this year (though injury prevented him from playing an unofficial Test against Australia), had previously impressed in the Cooch Behar Trophy, scoring 362 runs and taking 16 wickets in eight matches. The Dravid brothers continue to showcase the family’s cricketing legacy.
