Fri Dec 13 09:26:36 UTC 2024: ## Delhi Schools Evacuated Following Second Bomb Threat in a Week
**New Delhi, India** – At least 30 Delhi schools were forced to evacuate Friday after receiving a bomb threat via email, marking the second such incident this week. The email, sent late Thursday night, warned of multiple explosives planted on school grounds and threatened a detonation on December 13th or 14th, coinciding with a scheduled parent-teacher meeting at some institutions. Prominent schools including Delhi Public School (East of Kailash), Salwan School, Modern School, and Cambridge School were among the recipients.
Authorities immediately responded, sending students home and dispatching police, fire department, bomb disposal squads, and sniffer dogs to conduct thorough searches. So far, no suspicious devices have been found. Police are investigating the email’s origin and tracing the IP address.
The email, a copy of which was obtained by NDTV, claimed responsibility from a “secret dark web group” and demanded a response to its unspecified demands. This mirrors a similar threat targeting over 40 Delhi schools on December 9th, which was later deemed a hoax by authorities. That earlier email demanded a $30,000 ransom to prevent detonations.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal expressed serious concern over the recurring threats, questioning the potential impact on students’ education and well-being. The repeated nature of these incidents has sparked significant alarm among parents and education officials. Investigations are ongoing to determine the sender’s identity and motives.
