Fri Dec 13 05:10:00 UTC 2024: ## Tesla’s $25,000 Electric Vehicle Could Arrive in 2025, Report Says
**DETROIT** – After years of speculation and recent denials, a new report suggests Tesla is reviving plans for a budget-friendly electric vehicle. According to a Deutsche Bank report, the company, internally dubbed “Model Q,” is targeting an early 2025 launch for a vehicle priced under $30,000, factoring in government subsidies. Without subsidies, the price would jump to approximately $37,499.
The report claims Tesla’s Head of Investor Relations, Travis Axelrod, confirmed the project. The Model Q is expected to leverage existing production lines, potentially utilizing components from current models like the Model 3 or Model Y, rather than being a completely new design. While the Cybertruck was previously suggested as a candidate for a sub-$30,000 price point, its role in this strategy remains unclear.
Specifications for the Model Q reportedly include a smaller, lighter battery pack than the Model 3 – 15% smaller and 30% lighter – with options of 53.0 kWh and 75.0 kWh capacities.
The launch of the Model Q would coincide with a long-wheelbase, three-row Model Y designed for the Chinese market, according to the report. Both vehicles are projected to boost Tesla’s production capacity by 20 to 30 percent within the next year.
While details remain scarce, the report, if accurate, suggests a significant shift in Tesla’s strategy, potentially opening up the electric vehicle market to a wider range of consumers. The company’s decision to revisit this project comes after previous claims that it was abandoned. The coming months will be crucial in determining whether this ambitious plan will become reality.
