**KOLLAM, KERALA, December 12, 2024** – Sudevan has been re-elected as the Kollam district secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] for a third term, concluding a district conference held on Thursday. A long-standing party member since 1970 and a state committee member since 2015, Sudevan boasts a significant political career, including leadership roles in various organizations such as the DYFI, CITU, and the Kollam District Plantation Union. He also served as a two-time district panchayat member and held positions like vice-president of the district panchayat and chairman of Capex.

The conference also elected a 44-member district committee, incorporating four new members: Shyam Mohan, S. Geethakumari, V. Suma Lal, and Adarsh M. Saji. The committee currently includes five women.

Key resolutions passed at the conference include demands for the commencement of import and export activities at the Kollam port, effective measures to mitigate human-wildlife conflict in the eastern region, comprehensive development plans for the eastern region, transforming Kollam into a tourism hub to boost employment, and implementing the Chadayamangalam-Kottukkal sports hub.
