Fri Dec 13 13:27:26 UTC 2024: ## Bihar Exam Paper Leak Allegations, “One Nation, One Election” Debate Dominate Headlines

**Patna, India** – Allegations of a leaked question paper for the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) 70th preliminary exam sparked protests in Patna today. Candidates staged demonstrations, while the commission denied any wrongdoing. This follows the arrest of actor Allu Arjun, whose image following his apprehension has been widely circulated.

Separately, the Indian government’s approval of the “One Nation, One Election” bill has ignited a firestorm of political debate. The cabinet’s decision, expected to be presented to Parliament during the winter session, has drawn both support and criticism.

Prashant Kishor, leader of the Jan Suraj Party, voiced his support for the initiative, stating that while it offers potential cost and time savings, successful implementation requires careful planning and bipartisan cooperation over the next four to five years. He emphasized the need for a phased approach to gain public acceptance of such a significant change.

Echoing this sentiment, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Jha also backed the proposal, highlighting the potential for reduced costs and improved governance stability. Union Minister Chirag Paswan lauded the initiative, predicting economic growth and reduced delays caused by election-related restrictions. He criticized the opposition for their consistent objections.

However, opposition parties have condemned the move, viewing it as an attack on India’s federal structure. The debate surrounding “One Nation, One Election” is expected to continue as the bill progresses through Parliament.
