Fri Dec 13 02:21:50 UTC 2024: **Spider-Man Absent From “Kraven the Hunter,” Possibly Signaling End of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe**
LOS ANGELES, CA – Despite anticipation, Spider-Man makes no appearance in Sony’s latest Spider-Man Universe (SSU) film, “Kraven the Hunter,” which hit theaters recently. While rumors suggested Tom Holland might cameo, the only nod to the web-slinger is Kraven’s arachnophobia being exploited by a villain.
Director J. C. Chandor expressed interest in adapting “Kraven’s Last Hunt,” but the film’s box office performance and reports suggesting it may be the final SSU installment make a sequel unlikely. The R-rated film, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Kraven, focuses on the villain’s origin story prior to his conflict with Spider-Man. The supporting cast includes Ariana DeBose as Calypso, Fred Hechinger as the Chameleon, Alessandro Nivola as the Rhino, and Christopher Abbott as the Foreigner.
The absence of Spider-Man in “Kraven the Hunter,” following his omission from previous SSU films like “Venom” and “Morbius,” raises questions about the future of Sony’s interconnected Spider-Man universe.
