**Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh/Bengaluru, Karnataka –** A four-member Bengaluru Police team, including a female officer, has arrived in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, to investigate the suicide of 34-year-old techie Atul Subhash. Subhash, in a 24-page suicide note and a 1.5-hour video, accused his wife Nikita Singhania and her family of harassment and extortion, leading to his death. A case of abetment to suicide has been registered against Nikita and her family.
The investigation follows reports that Nikita’s mother and brother fled their Jaunpur home on Thursday. Videos purportedly showing their escape are circulating on social media. While police have increased presence in the area to maintain order, no arrest warrants have been issued. Nikita and her son currently reside in Delhi.
The Bengaluru Police team will question Nikita’s family regarding the allegations. This action comes after Uttar Pradesh police reported a lack of official communication from Karnataka regarding the case. Atul Subhash’s family is demanding justice and strict action against the Singhania family, citing escalating demands for alimony from ₹40,000 to ₹100,000 per month. Further complicating the matter, Nikita Singhania filed a dowry harassment complaint against Subhash and his family in 2022. The investigation is ongoing.
