Thu Dec 12 21:13:15 UTC 2024: ## Bengaluru IT Engineer’s Suicide: Wife, In-laws Booked, Investigation Underway
**Bengaluru, [Date]:** The Marathahalli police in Bengaluru have intensified their investigation into the suicide of IT engineer Atul Subhash, who took his own life last Monday. Subhash left behind a suicide note and a recorded video accusing his wife Nikita Singhania, mother-in-law Nisha Singhania, brother-in-law Anurag Singhania, and uncle-in-law Sushil Singhania of driving him to suicide. A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against all four under Section 306 (abetment to suicide) of the Indian Penal Code.
A police team has been dispatched to Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, to question Subhash’s in-laws and other relatives. Nikita Singhania’s current whereabouts are unknown, but her family remains in Jaunpur and has been evasive with the media. Nisha Singhania, in a video that has surfaced online, is seen avoiding questions from reporters, pleading helplessness.
The police have seized a suicide note, laptop, mobile phone, and other documents from Subhash’s residence. These items are undergoing forensic examination with court permission. Subhash had reportedly already written down the passwords to his electronic devices, facilitating the investigation.
Subhash’s brother, Vikas Kumar, filed a complaint at the Marathahalli police station, leading to the filing of the FIR. While Nisha Singhania has denied all allegations to a news channel, claiming the accusations are baseless and vowing to present evidence, her actions and those of her family have fuelled public outrage. The case has sparked a nationwide debate following the release of Subhash’s video. The investigation is ongoing.
