**Arad, Romania** – Arad County Hospital will soon receive two new mammography machines, significantly boosting its capacity for breast cancer screening. The announcement was made by Iustin Cionca, President of the Arad County Council, in a press release.
One machine will be purchased through the Operational Health Program by the Arad County Council. This state-of-the-art device is capable of performing biopsies. The second machine is being provided through a World Bank program managed by the Ministry of Health.
Currently, patients face waiting times exceeding two months for mammograms due to high demand. With approximately 1,000 breast cancer screenings performed since the beginning of the year, the addition of these two machines will significantly reduce waiting times and increase the number of investigations possible. The machines will be used in an outpatient setting following authorization from relevant authorities.
President Cionca emphasized that the acquisition is a key component of the County Council and County Hospital’s project to expand oncology services for patients in Arad.
