**New Delhi:** With the Delhi Assembly elections approaching, the political heat is intensifying. Following announcements from the BJP and AAP, the Delhi Congress is launching a major campaign, promising a significantly enhanced social welfare package. The party has pledged to provide 400 units of free electricity to all Delhi residents if elected in 2025, surpassing the AAP government’s current offering of 200 units.

Congress’s ambitious plan also includes a comprehensive health insurance scheme covering every citizen for ₹25 lakh, a fivefold increase over existing coverage. Additionally, the party is preparing a revamped pension scheme, promising adjustments to the age limit and an increase in the pension amount.

Congress President Devendra Yadav announced the 400-unit free electricity plan on Tuesday, with further announcements scheduled during the party’s ongoing “Nyay Yatra.” The Yatra, which includes daily major announcements, will culminate in a large rally on December 9th at Talkatora Stadium. Rahul Gandhi is expected to join the Yatra later this week, along with other senior party leaders, including Mallikarjun Kharge and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

The increased activity within the Delhi Congress follows concerns amongst senior party members regarding the party’s organizational strength. The Nyay Yatra aims to bolster grassroots support and address these concerns. The final rally is intended to be a major political show of force.
